So if you didn’t know, I purchase carbon credits a few times a year to offset my impact. For the purpose of this campaign I have decided to keep really close track of all impact-full things I do in order to make this a carbon neutral campaign.
I buy my credits from http://www.carbonfund.org/ as they are a cool company, and are really cheap. The last time I purchased was right after the Obama campaign. I printed thousands of fliers, so I bought a lot…
You may be asking, how can a webpage be carbon neutral? Well the answer is based on a recent google tiff where someone had calculated the amount of energy it took to view a webpage, and google corrected the blogger with a far lower amount of energy (google are the internets’ green pioneers). Read it here. Needless to say I took this data, and figured out based on my webstats how much I need to buy. Let’s just say that viewing this site does not take a lot of energy comparatively, so I have bought a lot of extra credits to offset your insatiable porn surfing! It’s just easier that way. So this page is actually carbon neutral. By a lot!
I encourage you to do this yourself! (I may or may not be starting this as an adventure this summer…)
